This mechanical permit application is required for all installation, repair, or alteration to mechanical systems such as:
- Boilers
- Furnaces
- Air-conditioning systems
- Ventilation systems
- Exhaust systems
- Refrigeration systems
- Any related components to these systems
A survey plat showing the location of all outdoor new and replacement heat pumps or A/C units will be required. The model energy code requires energy calculations for new buildings and additions. If the mechanical appliances are fueled by gas or oil, you’ll need a plumbing permit as well.
A mechanical permit is not required for replacement of mechanical appliances provided such equipment is not fueled by gas or oil where serving an individual dwelling unit. If you have proposed alterations and additions to one- and two-family dwellings, you may be eligible for a mechanical plan review waiver.
