What current building code and criteria does Arlington County follow?

Answer:

As of July 14, 2014, Arlington follows the 2012 Virginia State Building Code. Permit applicants may choose to utilize the 2009 USBC for a one-year period after the effective date. See all of the codes and standards that Arlington follows.

Arlington County does not adopt a local building code: Arlington is subject to the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC), which is Virginia State law.  Information regarding the VUSBC can be found at the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development website.
