New Zoning Checklists: As of March 1, applicants for residential building permits — including new single family homes, additions and alterations, and residential building permit revisions — must include a signed checklist indicating that all the required materials for the permit are included in the application. Incomplete submissions will not be accepted by the Zoning Division. Learn more about checklists and the Residential Permit Submission Requirements here.
2012 USBC Code: Construction drawings submitted for permits must comply with the 2012 Virginia Uniform Statewide Construction Code (USBC) after July 14, 2015.
Walk-Through Reviews: Beginning May 12, 2014, residential walk-through permit review hours will be 8 a.m.- 2 p.m., Mon.-Fri. After 2 p.m., walk-through residential permit applications may be dropped off with a Zoning Counter Services Planner for next day review and processing.
